Jeremiah quits :( [Jan. 23rd, 2010|10:43 am]

 taken from Alternative Press

According to this interview drummer Jeremiah Edmond has decided to leave Manchester Orchestra. Edmond explains his decision:

"Basically, there were several things building up to it. The most important one on a personal level would be that I was getting burnt out from being on tour constantly. I've been married for two years, and I've spent a majority of those two years away from home. [I'm] ready to finally build a life with my wife at home. Support her more than I have been. She would never ask me to [leave] the band and has always been supportive, but for me on a personal level, it was being ready to be home.

And then on a professional level, I had been so busy on the road constantly touring that there as just no way for me to give Favorite Gentlemen the attention that it needed to get to the next step. I felt like I wasn't able to give artists like Kevin Devine and All Get Out the attention they needed to get their releases off the ground as much as they could be. I feel great about how they've done, especially Kevin, but I felt as though they could've done even more. If I could focus full time and really give it more attention, and there is just no way to do that with the tour schedule that we have.

So I really had to look at what it would take to get to the next step with Manchester [Orchestra] and what I would have to to sacrifice to get to the next step. For me, those things didn't balance out. It would mean sacrificing more time at home and sacrificing taking Favorite Gentlemen to the next level, which has really become my main focus and my main passion more so than playing drums. Once I really balanced that out in my head, it just made sense to take a step back."

Filling in for Edmond on the band's upcoming headlining tour will be Brand New drum tech Ben Homola as well as Colour Revolt drummer Len Clark. The band have no permanent replacement lined up currently.

people are disgusting. [Jan. 6th, 2010|07:20 pm]

i know no one has updated in a while, but you guys probably saw (eventually) the twitter post manchester linked to about the girl saying how she doesn't find manchester as amazing after seeing andy.

what. the. fuck.

it breaks my heart how people are devaluing music based solely on appearance, not talent. i am really angry and probably going to do something i will regret in the future by responding to this. but how can i not? it's sick and wrong.

Anyone know where I can find some downloads of acoustic Manchester Orchestra songs that aren't Limewire? :)

The guys did a short interview/acoustic set with IHeartRadio.com. You can find it here. They play a few acoustic songs of their own and a cover of The Mountain Goats.

Anyone care to rip these?

best song contest [Nov. 7th, 2009|10:17 pm]
The Official Manchester Orchestra LJ Community

aburningexample
so, i did this in brand_new acouple months back and i think it went over fairly well (see the results here). so, i figured i'd try here as well. maybe get this community moving again.

behind the cut is a list of manchester orchestra's songs. it is your (and my) job to rank them. i will compile all of the rankings into a spread sheet and make a list of the best songs by manchester orchestra. there is one rule: only studio recorded songs starting with "i'm like a virgin losing a child". i feel like the earlier albums do not have enough production value and, honestly, i never really listened nor liked them.

the song list Collapse )

for those interested, would you like it if i added the two right away, great captain! albums? or should i just do a separate rankings for those songs? or just not do it at all?

the main problem with the list i did for the brand new community was only twenty people participated. this wasn't a very good data set. the biggest problem people had was just the sheer number of songs they had to rank. they found it too daunting. this list is almost half of that, so i hope that curbs the problem. anyway, before i start to work on this, i would like to know how many of you would actually participate? i found the results for the brand new one fascinating, so i really hope a good number of you want to do this. please, just set aside an hour or two and compile your list. A LOT of people unconstructively criticized the brand new one who didn't even bother to submit a list and i found this to be very annoying.

so, anyways, comment here if you are interested in participating in this idea and you can even start your rankings. if i get enough responses, i'll make another post telling everyone where to submit their lists and the amount of time i will give all of you. and i'll say it again, PLEASE PARTICIPATE!

Does anyone have a picture or a really good description of the Tony The Tiger shirt? Any pictures/descriptions of other merch?

I'm getting really excited. I'll be seeing them next weekend! I just hope there's still a bunch of stuff.

"Let My Pride Be What's Left Behind" Album Artwork [Aug. 3rd, 2009|07:10 pm]

When Let my Pride Be's DVD/EP came out last year, I remembered reading, or watching a video somewhere about it.
I remember them talking about the album artwork. How they went to a supposed "haunted" park. It was all like car parts and such
Some father built it for his deceased daughter. I don't know. I don't remember where I saw it and what the park was called but i'm trying desperately to find out.

If someone could give me the name of the site, or a link to info about the photoshoot, you would be a lifesaver.
